Why Furnace Maintenance is Important & what should be done to properly maintain your heating system.

Updated: Apr 29, 2023

Furnace maintenance is important because it helps to prevent problems and makes the furnace work more efficiently.

In the winter, furnace maintenance is important for two reasons: to ensure your home is well-insulated and to keep your furnace running at its best. In the winter, your furnace is working harder to keep your home warm, and it needs to run at its best to do that. In order to keep your furnace running smoothly, regular furnace maintenance is key. Here are some tips to help keep your furnace in good condition:

Check the air filters regularly. Dirty air filters will cause your furnace to work harder and create more heat, which can lead to problems. Replacing the filters every month is a good way to avoid these problems.

Clean the furnace’s blower fan. Dust and debris can build up on the fan, causing it to work harder and create more heat. Clean the fan every six months to keep it running smoothly.

Check the furnace’s insulation. If the insulation is dirty or damaged, the heat from the furnace will escape. Check the insulation every six months to make sure it’s in good condition.

Check the furnace ductwork. If there are any signs of wear or tear, have the ductwork replaced. This will help to keep your home warm and comfortable.

Proper furnace maintenance can also help to improve the overall lifespan of the furnace.

There are a lot of different ways to keep your furnace in good condition, so it is important to find what works best for you.

There are also combustion analysis tests that can be completed at the owner's request. Combustion analysis tests for temperature, carbon monoxide, and oxygen levels in the vent stack. This test can be used to check for proper flow of combustion from LP or NG

on furnaces. It also tells us if we need an adjustment on our gas valve or if there is a leak in the heat exchanger which depending on the system may need to be replaced. Combustion analysis can let the technician know if the furnace is running out of specification. Which in turn can cost your efficiency and money going out the smoke stack.....
